How to set up your Ahrefs key

What you need

• Ahrefs Lite or higher. The Starter plan has no API access.
• An Ahrefs workspace owner or admin. Only they can create API keys.

Add the key to SerpDad

1. 01In Ahrefs, open account settings, then API keys.
2. 02Create a key named "SerpDad".
3. 03Set a monthly unit limit and an expiry date on the key, as a second guard.
4. 04In SerpDad, go to Workspace › Provider keys. Owners and admins can add and change keys.
5. 05Paste the key into the Ahrefs form and save.

SerpDad then shows your Ahrefs plan, the units left this month and when the key expires.

Replace or remove the key

Before the key expires, create a new key in Ahrefs and save it on the Provider keys page. To stop SerpDad using it, delete it there and in Ahrefs account settings, API keys.
