SerpDad + Shopify: signed articles land hidden. You make them visible.

Connect your Shopify store to a SerpDad project and each signed article becomes a hidden article in the blog you pick, with no date to go live. Nobody sees it until someone in your store makes it visible. Products, collections and your theme stay untouched.

You connect a custom app token with two content scopes.

What flows where. Blog articles in. Nothing else touched.

Into Shopify: a hidden blog article

The title, body, summary, handle and author, filed under the blog you chose. It has no publish date, so it cannot go live on a timer.

From SerpDad: signed work only

An article can be staged once it has zero unsourced sentences, every section drafted, and a named person signed that exact version.

Back again: hidden only

Stage the article again and SerpDad updates it, but only while Shopify still holds it hidden with no date. Once visible, SerpDad leaves it alone.

What you need. A custom app named SerpDad.

  • A Shopify store with at least one blog.
  • A custom app named SerpDad, with the read_content and write_content Admin API scopes.
  • The app's Admin API access token and your shop domain.
  • A SerpDad project for the store. Draft targets are set per project.
  • A signed article to send. Writers, Editors, Managers, Admins and the Owner can stage one.

Content scopes cover blog articles and pages. SerpDad uses them for blog articles only. It does not ask for product, order or theme scopes, so it cannot change them.

Setup. Connect Shopify in three steps.

  1. Create a custom app

In Shopify, open Settings, then Apps and sales channels, then Develop apps. Create an app named SerpDad with the read_content and write_content Admin API scopes, install it, and copy the Admin API access token.

  2. Add it in Workspace, Draft targets

Pick the project, then enter your shop domain and the token. SerpDad checks it with Shopify, lists your blogs, and asks which one takes the drafts.

  3. Stage a signed article

Send the signed article to Shopify. It appears in the blog as a hidden article for your team to review and make visible.

Sign-off rules and every draft target: Drafts and sign-off docs.

What it won't do. It never makes an article visible.

SerpDad sets every article it sends to hidden, with no date to go live. It cannot publish an article, schedule one, or touch your products, collections or theme. No workflow block can publish to any site.

Requests go only to your shop's own myshopify.com domain. The token is checked before it is saved, kept encrypted, and never appears in an error message.

To cut the connection, remove it in SerpDad and uninstall the SerpDad app in Shopify.

Can SerpDad publish to my Shopify store?

No. It creates hidden blog articles with no date to go live. The article stays hidden until someone in your store makes it visible.

What does SerpDad need from Shopify?

Your shop domain and the Admin API access token of a custom app named SerpDad, with the read_content and write_content scopes. SerpDad checks the token and lists your blogs so you can pick one.

Can SerpDad change products, collections or my theme?

No. It works with blog articles only: the title, body, summary, handle, author and blog. The scopes it asks for are content scopes.

Can SerpDad write my product or category pages?

There is an E-commerce category pages workflow template for planning them. The Shopify draft target itself stages blog articles only.

What if I stage the same article again?

SerpDad updates the article only while Shopify still holds it hidden with no publish date. Once it is visible, SerpDad leaves it alone.
