Integrations / Ahrefs
SerpDad + Ahrefs: import your Ahrefs keywords, get a page plan.
Connect your own Ahrefs API key and import keyword ideas, or the keywords a site ranks for, straight into a SerpDad project. Ahrefs finds the keywords. SerpDad reads each one's live top 10 and decides which page owns it.
Optional. Ahrefs charges the units to your own Ahrefs plan.
What flows where. Keywords come in from Ahrefs. The decisions happen in SerpDad.
Keyword ideas from seeds
Enter up to 10 seed keywords and SerpDad fetches keyword ideas from your Ahrefs account.
Keywords a site ranks for
Enter a site and SerpDad fetches the keywords it ranks for. 1,000 by default, up to 10,000 per fetch.
Cleaned the same way as any import
Exact duplicates go, obvious junk is skipped, and similar keywords are never merged. The top 10 decides that later.
Into the plan
The imported keywords go through a normal run on your DataForSEO and AI keys, with the estimate shown before anything is spent.
In a workflow
The Keywords from Ahrefs block does the same import inside a workflow, so a scheduled plan can start from fresh Ahrefs data.
No API plan? Use a CSV
Export from Ahrefs and upload the file on the Import page. Map the Keyword column, and Volume if you want it. A file import costs nothing.
What you need. An Ahrefs plan with API access.
- Ahrefs Lite or higher. The Starter plan has no API access.
- An Ahrefs workspace owner or admin to create the API key.
- The Owner or Admin role in SerpDad to save the key, and Owner, Admin or Manager to import keywords.
- Your DataForSEO key and one AI provider key, which every SerpDad run needs.
Setup. Connect Ahrefs in three steps.
Create a key in Ahrefs
Open account settings, then API keys. Create a key named SerpDad, and set a monthly unit limit and an expiry date on it as a second guard.
Save it in Workspace, Provider keys
Paste the key into the Ahrefs form. SerpDad then shows your Ahrefs plan, the units left this month and when the key expires.
Import from Ahrefs
Open Plan, Import, From Ahrefs. Pick seed keywords or a site, set the most keywords to fetch, check the units, and confirm.
Step by step: Ahrefs key help. Every import source and limit: Import keywords docs.
What it won't do. It never spends Ahrefs units you have not seen.
SerpDad shows the most units an import can use, and how many you have left, before it fetches. It never adds a markup and never resells Ahrefs data. The units come off your own Ahrefs plan.
It also does not use Ahrefs to decide which page a keyword belongs on. That call comes from the live Google top 10, fetched on your DataForSEO key, with a receipt for every decision.
Your key is encrypted and write-only. To stop SerpDad using it, delete it on the Provider keys page and in Ahrefs.

Which Ahrefs plan do I need?
Ahrefs Lite or higher, because the Starter plan has no API access. Only an Ahrefs workspace owner or admin can create the API key.
What does an Ahrefs import cost?
Ahrefs charges the units to your own Ahrefs plan. Before it fetches, SerpDad shows the most units the import can use and how many you have left. SerpDad adds nothing on top.
How many keywords can one import bring in?
1,000 by default and up to 10,000 per fetch. Keyword ideas start from up to 10 seed keywords.
Can I use Ahrefs without the API?
Yes. Export keywords from Ahrefs as a CSV and upload it on the Import page. Map the Keyword column, and Volume if you want it. Importing a file costs nothing.
Why do I still need a DataForSEO key?
Ahrefs supplies the keywords. The page plan is decided from each keyword's live Google top 10, which SerpDad fetches on your DataForSEO key.
What happens when my Ahrefs key expires?
SerpDad shows the expiry date on the Provider keys page. Create a new key in Ahrefs before then and save it in SerpDad.
Ahrefs finds them. SerpDad places them.
