Free tools / Intent checker
Free search intent checker. Count what ranks. The words can mislead you.
Type one keyword. The checker reads today's Google top 10 and counts the page types in it, so the page you build matches the page searchers get. Here is why counting beats reading the words: our own keyword asked for a topical authority checker, and Google answered with domain authority checkers.
Free, 20 checks per network a day. SerpDad pays for the checks. 23 countries.

8 of 9 results are about domain or page authority, not topical authority. The lit rows are those.
Run the live check.
Pick a keyword and a country. If you like, first say what you would build. The checker reads that country's top 10, labels each result with its page type and counts them. The count and a sentence naming the most common type always show, with the first 3 results. Every ranking page asks for your email. Each result has a share link.

Guess before you count. Three of our own keywords. What page would you build?
The live checker lets you name the page type before it shows the count. It is the most useful habit in keyword work, because a wrong guess shows you which of your instincts to stop trusting.
Try it on three real keywords from our plan. Each answer is the page type the Run 2 vote gave, from that keyword's own top 10.
The vote uses four page types: List (a set of options), How-to (steps to follow), Comparison (options side by side) and Landing (a page to buy, sign up or use something).
"free seo keyword tool": what page would you build?
"canonical version": what page would you build?
"keyword clustering": what page would you build?
When the words point one way, Google sometimes points another.
"topical authority checker" reads like a tool that measures topical authority. Its top 10 is mostly tools and lists for domain authority, a different metric from a different idea. A page built from the words would answer a question few of those searchers asked. Our plan gave it a page of its own and flagged its format for a person, because the vote found no clear type.
"what is topical authority" starts with "what is", which reads like a definition and so a how-to. The vote said Landing.
"free keyword research" reads like a guide. The vote said Landing: searchers want a tool to use.
None of these are tricks. They are what happens when you check instead of assume.
What it counts, and what it does not. A label per result, then a vote.
The checker fetches the live top 10 for your keyword and country on SerpDad's own DataForSEO account. An AI model labels each result with one of the four page types. Then it counts. The most common type wins, and the sentence names it.
When two types tie, it says so. A tie is not a decision, and the checker will not dress one up as an answer. Inside a plan, a split vote goes to the review queue for a person.
It counts what Google shows. It does not say what Google rewards, and a count of 6 how-tos does not promise that a seventh will rank.

Up to 120 characters. Optionally pick what you would build, so your guess shows next to the count.

Label and count
Each result gets one page type. The checker counts them and names the most common one, or says the vote is tied.
A count settles three arguments. Before a brief, before a rework, in a meeting.
Before you brief a writer. If the count says List and the brief asks for a 3,000-word guide, change the brief, not the count.
Before you rework a page that slipped. Check whether the top 10 changed type. A page can lose ground because the results moved from how-tos to lists, not because the page got worse.
When a team disagrees. Send the share link. Everyone looks at the same ten results.
Inside SerpDad, the same vote runs for every page in your plan. Each page gets the format its focus keyword's top 10 voted for, and it shapes the brief: the outline, the word budget and the page type the writer starts from. In Run 2, 85 pages went to a person with the question "What shape should this page take?", because their votes were split or empty.
The honest limit.
Four page types are a coarse net. A forum thread, a video and a product page each get the nearest of the four, so read the ranking pages yourself before a big decision. The count tells you where to look.
It reads one keyword, one day, one country. Results move, so a count from three months ago is a starting point, not a fact.

How is this different from other intent checkers?
Many intent tools guess from the words in the keyword. This one reads today's Google top 10 and counts the page types that are there.
Which page types does it count?
Four: List, How-to, Comparison and Landing, the same four formats a SerpDad page plan uses. Each result gets the closest of the four. When two types tie, the checker says so instead of picking one.
Do I need an account or my own keys?
No. SerpDad runs the tool on its own accounts and pays for it. It never uses or shows any customer's data.
What are the limits?
One keyword per check, up to 120 characters. 20 checks per network per day and 10 per minute. A keyword checked in the last 30 days shows the stored result.
Why do I need my email for the full result?
The first 3 results and their page types show straight away. To see every ranking page, you enter your email and agree to hear about the result and SerpDad. You can unsubscribe at any time.
