Workflows / Templates / E-commerce category pages

The e-commerce category pages template: with the blog posts split out.

A store's keyword list mixes buying searches with questions. This workflow template does e-commerce category page planning from the live top 10: it plans the whole list, drops the question and guide keywords, writes briefs for the list and landing pages, and hands everything else to the blog team as a CSV.

Every template asks before it spends and never publishes.

Who it is for, and what starts a run.

Who it is for

E-commerce SEO leads and agencies with store clients, on Shopify or anywhere else. Anyone who has watched a buying guide and a category page chase the same keyword.

The engine has no separate "category page" type. It routes by the formats it already reads from the top 10, and list and landing pages are where category pages land.

What starts it

Manual. A person presses Run and uploads or pastes the keyword list.

At Use template you can take keywords from Ahrefs instead of a file.

Inside the template, block by block.

Each block is a step you can open in the editor. Every step keeps a receipt: inputs, outputs, evidence, provider, cost and timings.

  1. Import keywords

Reads the store's keyword list from a file, a paste or Ahrefs.

  2. Engine group

Plans the whole list: Fetch SERPs, Search volume, Cluster by SERP overlap, Score scope and format, Route around owned pages, Park weak pages and Labs secondary keywords. Your existing category URLs are routed around first.

  3. Filter

Drops pages whose focus keyword contains how, what, why, guide, diy or free. Those are blog work.

  4. If/else

Splits what is left by format: list and landing pages on one side, everything else on the other.

  5. Generate brief (Is true)

Writes briefs for the top 20 list and landing pages, each from its own top 10.

  6. Export CSV (both branches)

One CSV of the category pages, and one CSV of the other pages for the blog team.

The filter words are a starting point. Add your own, such as "ideas" or "best way", in the editor before you publish. Pages the filter drops are still in the plan; they just skip the briefs.

Before it spends, it asks.

Approvals

A person starts each run and approves its estimate. A Manager above the owner approval line sees Request approval instead of Approve run.

A run that waits more than 7 days for approval expires. No standing approval is needed.

What it costs

SERP fetches and keyword data use your DataForSEO key; page classification and the 20 briefs use your AI provider key. You pay the providers directly.

The estimate shows one line per spending block before anything is fetched. Use the run cost calculator to size a big catalogue first.

What you get when the run finishes.

  • A page plan for the whole list, with receipts per decision.
  • Briefs for up to 20 list and landing pages.
  • A CSV of category pages to build or optimize.
  • A CSV of question and guide pages for the blog team.

No workflow can publish to a site. Drafts and tasks wait for a person. Spending waits for an approval, and every run checks your monthly cap first.
