Integrations / Google Sheets

SerpDad + Google Sheets: the keyword sheet your team keeps, read straight into a workflow.

The SerpDad Google Sheets integration is an import. The Import from Google Sheets workflow block reads keywords from one column of a sheet into a project, on a read-only Google grant. Your team keeps adding rows where it always has, and the next run plans them.

No cost. Reading a sheet spends nothing on your provider keys.

What flows where. How the Google Sheets import works.

Out of the sheet: one column

You give the sheet URL, the tab and the column letter, and say whether the first row is a header. Every other cell is ignored.

Into SerpDad: the project list

Rows go through the same import as a pasted list. Junk rows are skipped and a keyword already in the project is kept once.

Then the plan decides

Keywords that only look alike are never merged on import. The top 10 decides which ones share a page, later in the run.

A cap you set

Set the most keywords the block may read in one run. A run can hold up to 200,000 keywords.

Free to read

The import costs nothing. The steps after it, such as fetching the top 10, show an estimate and wait for an approval.

A failed read is visible

If Google refuses the read, for example because the account cannot open the sheet, the step fails with a plain reason and you can retry it.

One direction. SerpDad reads the sheet. It never writes to it.

Google Sheets is an input, not an output. SerpDad asks Google for read-only access to spreadsheets, so it can read cells and can never change a sheet, add a tab or write a plan back.

To take a plan into a spreadsheet, use Export CSV in the plan, or the Export CSV workflow block, and open the file in Google Sheets. The plan, the receipts and the review queue stay in SerpDad.

Other ways in: a file, a paste, Ahrefs, seed keyword research and Search Console.

What you need. A Google account that can open the sheet.

  • A Google account that can open the sheet. SerpDad reads with that account's access.
  • One column of keywords, one per row, on a tab you can name.
  • The Owner, Admin or Manager role in SerpDad to add connections and publish workflows.

Setup. Connect Google Sheets in three steps.

  1. Sign in with Google in Workspace, Connections

Choose Google Sheets and allow read-only access to spreadsheets. SerpDad keeps the grant encrypted.

  2. Add Import from Google Sheets to a workflow

Paste the sheet URL, name the tab and the column, and tick the header box if the first row is a label.

  3. Publish, then run

Run it by hand or on a schedule. The import is free, and the spending steps after it wait for an approval.

Every way to bring keywords in: Import keywords docs. Triggers and approvals: Jobs and workflows docs.

What it won't do. No writes, no sharing, no spending on its own.

SerpDad never edits, shares or deletes a sheet. It reads one column when the block runs and stores the keywords in your project.

A scheduled import does not spend money by itself. The steps after it run only after an approval, or inside a standing approval an Owner or Admin granted, up to a per-run ceiling ($10.00 by default).

To cut the connection, remove it in Workspace, Connections, and remove SerpDad from your Google account permissions.

Templates. Workflows that start well from a sheet.

Keyword pile to page plan

Swap the file import for the sheet, and the default workflow plans whatever the team added.

Monthly re-run

Read the sheet on the first Monday, then re-plan with the new rows in.

E-commerce category pages

Keep category keywords in a sheet your merchandising team owns, and plan from it.

What does SerpDad do with Google Sheets?

It reads keywords from one column of one tab of a Google Sheet, through the Import from Google Sheets workflow block, and adds them to the project. That is the whole integration: it reads, it never writes.

What access does SerpDad ask Google for?

A read-only grant for spreadsheets, given once in Workspace, Connections by signing in with Google. SerpDad can read sheets that account can open, and can never change them.

Does importing from a sheet cost anything?

No. The import is free. The steps after it, such as fetching the top 10 for the new keywords, show an estimate and wait for an approval.

Can SerpDad write a plan back to a sheet?

No. To take a plan into a spreadsheet, use the Export CSV workflow block, or export from the plan, and open the file in Google Sheets.

What happens to duplicates and junk rows?

Rows go through the same import as a pasted list. Empty and junk rows are skipped, and a keyword already in the project is kept once. Keywords that only look alike are never merged, because the top 10 decides that later.
