SerpDad + Trello: a card on the board when there is work to pick up.
The SerpDad Trello integration puts a card on one Trello list when a workflow reaches its Create task block. The card says what reached the step and links to the run. If your content team lives on a board, the work SerpDad finds shows up in the To do column with everything else.
No cost. Create task spends nothing on your provider keys.
What flows where. How the Trello integration works.
Out of SerpDad: one card
A title of up to 200 characters and a due date from 0 to 90 days out. The title can carry variables such as the project or a count.
What the description holds
Which workflow and run sent it, for which project, up to 25 page, brief or article names, and the run link.
Into Trello: one list
The card lands on the list you named when you added the connection. SerpDad keeps the card link in the step receipt.
No members added
Cards arrive without members. Whoever watches the list picks them up, the way most boards already work.
A refused card is visible
If Trello refuses the call, the step fails with Trello's reason. Fix the connection and retry the step.
One list per connection
Want briefs in one column and refreshes in another? Add two connections, one per list.
Where it fits. The board shows the work. SerpDad holds the evidence.
A card is a pointer. It tells the writer that four briefs are ready, or the editor that six posts are losing clicks, and links to the run that found them.
The brief, the receipts and the sign-off stay in SerpDad. Drafts only export after a named person signs them, and moving a card to Done does not sign anything.
Teams that want a named owner set by the workflow tend to use Asana or Linear instead. Teams that pick work off a shared column use Trello.
What you need. A Trello key, a token and a list ID.
- Your Trello API key and a token made for it. Treat both like passwords.
- The ID of the Trello list the cards should go to.
- The Owner, Admin or Manager role in SerpDad to add connections and publish workflows.
Setup. Connect Trello in three steps.
Get your key and a token in Trello
Copy your API key, make a token for it, and find the ID of the list you want.
Add them in Workspace, Connections
Choose Trello, paste the key, the token and the list ID. SerpDad stores them encrypted and shows them masked.
Add Create task to a workflow
Pick the Trello connection, write the title, set a due date if you want one, and publish the workflow version.
Triggers, blocks, approvals and every output: Jobs and workflows docs.
What it won't do. It adds cards. It never reads your boards.
SerpDad sends one request to create a card on the list you named. It does not read your boards, move cards or see comments.
Nothing on the board reaches back into SerpDad. Every spending step shows its estimate and waits for an approval in SerpDad. To cut the connection, remove it in Workspace, Connections and revoke the token in Trello.
Templates. Workflows that are better with a Trello card.
Approved outline to finished article
A card for the editor when the finished article is ready to read.
Keyword pile to signed articles
A card per batch of briefs, so writers can pull the next one.
Monthly re-run
A card to review what changed in the plan this month.

What does SerpDad create in Trello?
One card on the Trello list you chose when you added the connection. It has a title, an optional due date, and a description that lists what reached the step: a count, up to 25 names and a link to the run in SerpDad.
What do I need to connect Trello?
Your Trello API key, a token made for it, and the ID of the list the cards go to. You paste them in Workspace, Connections. SerpDad stores them encrypted and shows them masked.
Does creating Trello cards cost anything?
No. Create task spends nothing on your provider keys.
Can SerpDad assign a Trello card to someone?
No. Cards arrive on the list without members. Whoever watches the list picks them up. If you need an assignee set by the workflow, Asana takes one.
Can moving a card approve a run?
No. Nothing in Trello reaches back into SerpDad. The person approves the run in SerpDad, with the estimate in front of them.
The card on the board. The receipts in SerpDad.
